Roleplay Terms

Roleplaying Terms
So, you’ve just landed in NewGenRP and everyone’s talking in terms you’ve never heard before. You might be thinking, “Is RP really for me?” or “What are these people even saying?”
Don’t worry — we’ve all been there. This guide will help you understand the most common terms you’ll hear around the city so you can fit right in and start enjoying the full RP experience.
Common RP Terms in NewGenRP
Local – Locals are NPCs (non-player characters) you’ll see all over the map. They aren’t real players — just the city’s background residents.
Danny – A “Danny” is a new or unimmersed player who hasn’t customized their character or is acting in a way that breaks RP immersion. Everyone starts somewhere, but remember to grow into your story!
City – The “City” simply refers to the server. For example: “There’s a lot going on in the city tonight.”
Headpop – When your game crashes or you disconnect unexpectedly. If this happens, rejoin the server right away and try to return to the scene.
Flex Muscle – When someone says “flex [key],” they’re telling you which key to press to perform an action. Example: “Flex K to check your pockets.”
Discordia – A fun way to say Discord, where community discussions, updates, and announcements take place. Join ours through the main website or at discord.gg/newgenrp.
Government Website – This refers to our official website, NewGenRoleplay.com, where you can find applications, forms, updates, and player tools.
In Head – When someone says they’re “in head,” it usually means they’re AFK or talking about something outside of RP (OOC). For example: “Sorry, I was in head writing something.”
Eyes – “In my eyes” means how something appeared on your screen. If there’s desync, you might say “I didn’t crash in my eyes” to explain that it didn’t show up the same on your end.
Voicebox – Your microphone! You can change your talking range or volume by accessing settings our changing your loudness key.
Pockets / Wallet – Your inventory. Example: “I’ve got a phone in my pockets.”
Tsunami – Refers to a server restart. You’ll often hear: “City’s going down for a tsunami in 10 minutes.”
Big Tsunami – A full server reset, where player progress or systems are refreshed (usually tied to major updates or version changes).
Think About It – When someone asks you to “think about it,” it’s your cue to use /me or an emote to express what your character is doing. This is common in medical, law, or other whitelist RP situations.
Take a Flight – Leaving the city — logging out for the night or temporarily fixing issues. “I’m taking a quick flight; I’ll be back soon.”
